  1. Hey Everyone, My name is Heath Norris and I am a lawyer in Durham, NH.

    1. What type of cases do you typically deal with?
I am a criminal defense lawyer. I typically deal with "minor" criminal violations such as assault and battery, DWI, Criminal Mischeif, Etc., Etc.

    2. How much time each week, on average, do you spend on paperwork?
On average I spend 10-20 hours on paperwork. It's not paperwork like you might expect. A lot of it is reading through police reports that the public may not be allowed to see. I get to hear my client's side of the story and then I get to read about the police officer's side of the story. Usually the truth is somewhere in between.....

    3. How long does each case typically last?
A typical case length can vary. Some reach a plea deal within a month or so. Others can last up to a year and go through a trial. The length depends on the complexity of the matter, the case load the court has and the time the prosecution and defense need to prepare for trial. Often a criminal matter will involve several pre-trial hearings. These hearings will decide what is allowed at trial, if the case will be dismissed, if the defendant has breached a bail condition and many other matters a party may need resolved to help him or her prepare for a trial.

    4. How difficult was it to pass the Bar Exam?
It's not difficult to pass the Bar Exam if a person is prepared. Obviously the harder someone studies the more prepared he or she will be prepared resulting in the exam seeming a little easier. The hardest part about the test is physically writing so much over a 2 day period. My hand was killing me after the test.....
